Italy’s beautiful Umbria region is famed for its countryside and flora. With some great excursions from your lakeside resort, offering gorgeous vistas of olive groves and vineyards, plus visits to pretty, medieval towns, this is a feast of scenic and architectural treasures.

Lake Trasimeno, the fourth largest lake in Italy, is surrounded by hilltop towns, beautiful woods and slopes covered with olive groves and vineyards. It’s ideally situated for some marvellous walks and visits to a wonderful array of attractions. You will stay in the picturesque lakeside village of San Feliciano on the eastern shore of the lake, overlooking the island of Polvese.

Walking Information
Our walks require a reasonable level of fitness and ideally some previous walking experience. You will need comfortable walking boots, a small rucksack, waterproofs, a hat and sunglasses. A local guide will also accompany you on your walks.

Grade 1 Walks
These are for anyone of any age. Plenty of rest stops and time to enjoy the local scenery with up to 4 hours walking a day, mostly on good paths but occasionally rough underfoot. Ascent less than 300m per day.

Grade 2 Walks
These are moderate, for anyone who is comfortable walking hills. Still plenty of time to rest and enjoy the scenery, however up to 5 hours walking a day on slightly more rugged terrain. Ascent less than 500m per day.

Accommodation
Accommodation is at the Hotel Complex Ali Sul Lago on the lakefront in San Feliciano. The hotel has a bar, lounge, restaurant, pizzeria, terrace and outdoor swimming pool. All bedrooms have private facilities, TV, telephone and air-conditioning, and some are apartmentstyle with kitchenette. Bicycles are available for hire.

Itinerary
DAY 1 - UK/ITALY
Depart on your scheduled flight to Rome. On arrival transfer to your hotel in San Feliciano on Lake Trasimeno for a seven night stay. Enjoy a welcome drink on arrival.

DAYS 2 TO 7 - SAN FELICIANO
Free to relax and enjoy our included walks and excursions:

Isola Polvese
An introductory half day tour of the lake with a boat trip across to Isola Polvese, where you’ll find a monastery and a restored 14th-century castle.

La Goga di Magione to Caligiana
This gentle walk from La Goga di Magione to Caligiana offers wonderful views of Magione Castle and the 13th century Lombardi Tower (approx. 3 hours’ walk).

Three Peaks Walk
Enjoy a walk along a wonderful trail covering the nearby peaks of Monte Melino, Monte Penna and Monte Sperello (approx. 3½ hours’ walk).

Paciano to Monte Pausillo
A slightly more challenging walk, ascending from the hilltop village of Paciano to Monte Pausillo (approx. 3 hours’ walk).

Orvieto
A half day tour to this lovely medieval fortress town, home to one of Italy’s finest Gothic cathedrals and the Papal Palace.

The following excursion is optional:

Perugia & Assisi
A full day excursion to Perugia, capital of the Umbria region, and Assisi, the birthplace of St. Francis.

DAY 8 - ITALY/UK
Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
